We Can’t Survive on $7.25: New Exhibit Commemorates 10 Years of Game-Changing Fight for $15 and a Union
We Can’t Survive on $7.25, is an exhibition commemorating 10 years of the groundbreaking Fight for $15 and a Union movement, will open June 5 at the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies in Midtown. It is built around art that workers carried on strike lines in their decade-long fight for higher pay and a union that transformed the politics of the country and has been a driving force for higher pay and unions for all and against systemic racism, sexual harassment and the failure to protect workers during a global pandemic.
When We Fight, We Win!
When We Fight, We Win! is an exhibition that reflects on the power of organized labor through the lens of artworks deployed on the frontlines of the fast food workers movement. This show coincides with the passage of landmark labor law AB257 which gives fast food workers a voice in setting labor standards across the state.
When We Fight, We Win! is hosted by Round Weather Art Gallery, a nonprofit art gallery committed to alleviating the climate crisis. It directs funds raised through the sale of exceptional contemporary art to three organizations selected each year for their effectiveness in climate change mitigation. The gallery celebrates and utilizes the connective imagination, innovation, and courage of the art world, qualities required to counteract the destructive reshaping of global weather.
